~The Ghost Dog Story~
In the late 19th century during the British Raj, the period of Great Britain’s rule over India, legend has it that a band of soldiers from Britain’s expeditionary forces broke ranks with the Crown and headed east into the hills of Nagaland. These men, now loyal only to their new “tribe,” made a pact to defend the right to liberty for all. Fighting against oppression, they struck fear into tyrants throughout the region.
As a sign of strength, and to galvanize the tribe before battle, these warriorsconsumed the indigenous naga jolokia, or ghost pepper, one of the hottest peppers in the world. Their battle cry, Aag Mae! (Into the fire!), became such an intimidating herald that it often sent enemies immediately into retreat. Frequently striking at night, they came to be known as the Ghost Dogs. We created this ghost pepper whiskey in honor of these expat paladins.
In a market increasingly flooded with sweet liqueurs masquerading as whiskies, Ghost Dog is the alpha spirit. This small-batch corn whiskey, infused with smoked ghost peppers and an exotic blend of botanicals, seductively touches the tongue with a hint of smoky sweetness before culminating in a long and smoldering finish. Ghost Dog thrives as a lone wolf taken straight or ignites any cocktail.
