(March 29th, 2016 - San Francisco, CA)- Chambers Bay Distillery is proud to announce that our inaugural batch of Greenhorn Bourbon was awarded a gold medal in the craft whiskey category at the 2016 San Francisco World Spirits Competition®. As the first expression of our flagship wheated-bourbon, Greenhorn is aged less than 2-years in small barrels. The award winning batch of Greenhorn (batch #1) was aged 14-19 months (17 months on average) in 10 and 20 liter barrels.
The San Francisco World Spirits Competition®, the nation's largest and most influential spirits competition, was held March 17th through 20th at Hotel Nikko in San Francisco where judges sampled a record-breaking 1,899 sprit entries. Every entry is blind-tasted under highly focused conditions by some of the spirit industry's most respected experts.

Competing against whiskies 3x its age, Greenhorn was one of only 20 whiskies from around the Globe to win gold or double gold in the craft whiskey category, and the only Washington state whiskey to win gold in any category. We attribute the mature character of this youthful whiskey to the quality of our hand-selected locally-sourced grains, our wheated-bourbon mash bill, and our unique boathouse aging process.
We plan to release our next expression of bourbon whiskey, Chambers Bay Straight Bourbon Whiskey, in the Fall of 2017. Until then, Greenhorn will be available in limited quantities at our distillery and favored establishments and retailers in Pierce County.
